A striking Coalport ‘John Rose’ hand painted smooth oval teapot, decorated in puce and gilt ‘grape vine’ bands, c1805.
John Rose had been an apprentice to Thomas Turner at the Caughley factory until aged 21 when he set up his own manufacturing company with Edward Blakeway at Jackfields around 1793. By 1796 they had set up a works across the other side of the River Severn at Coalport, from where this delightful teapot originated.

C1815 Barr, Flight & Barr coffee can with matching Spode saucer. A piece for the academics….. the Spode has a pattern number which is very unusual for an assumed replacement piece.

George III period c.1803. Spode pattern #319 trio comprising a Bute shape Coffee Can (a shape introduced by Josiah Spode II c1802) tea cup and saucer. All fully hand-painted in this elegant design with iron-red & black enamels together with gilt; the design appears to include plumes of ostrich feathers & floral swags.

c1811-20 SPODE coffee can. Pattern #1706 bone china of Bute shape decorated very simply in cobalt blue enamel in a design known as ‘Chantilly Sprig’. Spode introduced this pattern in around 1811. As the name suggests, this 18th century design derives from French porcelain decorated in a similar manner at the Chantilly porcelain factory in France.

A scarce Mintons “Amherst Japan” Imari patterned bedroom water jug. Circa 1835-40. This piece has been totally used and loved and has extensive rivet repairs to enable it to be continued to be used. A wonderful large piece which in spite of its condition issues, still displays well.
